Writing Challenge - entry 3
I am not a writer. Never enjoyed it as much as being elbow deep in grease, food or mud. Never quite got into keeping journals or diaries, despite the occasional attempt and even effort. Hell, I even struggle to cobble together a few words onto a post card.
The kind of writing I always enjoyed well above all others is a rare and exciting form of self expression that often involves a couple of cans of spay paint, a well placed wall and occasional turf war. Sometime circa Y2K, I found myself with a blue, green and silver on clean white. With a co-writer and a lookout, we gave artistic birth to a genuine child of delinquency and vandalism.
Schoolwork, essays, term papers, exams and later, professional writing of documents and other corporate homework, are not very tolerant of this form of writing; and if we are honest, aren't most convenient mediums for it either.
There is a middle ground here. Somewhere between urban anarchy and most conventional writing styles lies a curious form of true writing beauty. It is not that I am particularly good at art or sketchnotes, but damn, it is a lot of fun! Perhaps this is the point. It isn't that we are meant to be good at something, or feel that we are good at something, to enjoy it.. especially if it shows us how to enjoy and feel good about something we never enjoyed at all!
It is through this sort of thing that I grew to enjoy writing. I'll occasionally doodle and journal and do post cards, all with great pleasure and joy as long as it involves drawing my writing. I still don't view myself as a writer, or an artist for that matter, which is why this 30-day challenge is a proper challenge for me.

Writing computer code is an entirely different sort of writing that I endure on occasion, sometimes with joy sometimes with dread, but even so - not a writer.
